The Goal

“But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense (Greek, apologia) to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear” (I Peter 3:15).

apología (apó, "from" and lógos, "intelligent reasoning") – properly, a well-reasoned reply; a thought-out response to adequately address the issue(s) that is raised.

To argue or debate is not the goal. Why? Because it is possible to win the argument, while at the same time, lose the soul. But rather, as Christian influencers, it needs to be our gracious focus to give well-reasoned replies to those who ask about our faith in Jesus. Therefore, use these narratives to best share the heart behind your Overwear.

The Know

1.) Let truth, not trends, shape your heart’s pursuit. You see, in a world set on fads that fade, it is only the truth of Jesus Christ that transcends beyond the day. Therefore, let the Christ within you speak louder than the culture around you. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever” (I John 2:17).

2.) To remain silent with the truth only emboldens a culture of lies. Be bold therefore and hold onto the truth as the truth holds onto you. “He who speaks truth declares righteousness, but a false witness, deceit” (Proverbs 12:17).

3.) We may not be able to single-handedly stop the current of the culture, because like overflowing water, it just keeps pushing and pressing right around us. However, our responsibility as Christians isn't to stop the current, but to stand strong against it. Know this--error and trends may overflow, but truth always overcomes. “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).
